Preparing Your Yard for Winter.

Fall Landscaping and Cleanup services in Milwaukee, Mequon and Glendale.

You work all summer to create a landscape that you can be proud of, now that winter is coming, what can be done to prepare it for the long winter?

Spread more mulch-  Mulch will help protect roots from frost and will also help keep moisture in the soil during the cold dry winter months.

Wrap shrubs and small trees-  Wet heavy snow can damage limbs and super cold wind can overdry and windburn evergreens.  Wrapping can protect them.  Use buckets to protect small plants from heavy snow by placing the buckets over the plants.

Give your lawn one last cut and rake-  This will leave a little less for you to do this spring and helps with spring cleanup.

Cut and prune the dead and dying- While there are still leaves on the trees, you can spot the dead and dying limbs and remove them, it is also nice to take care of it now before having to look at them over the entire winter.
