Mequon Landscaping | Get Your Lawn Winter Ready

Getting your lawn and Landscaping ready for winter is a task we need to take every year in Mequon.  Here are a few tips.

 

Rake The Leaves

Yes it is a pain but it is important to make sure you rake your lawn and keep the leaves from choking off the grass and allowing fungus to grow.  If the leaves aren’t that dense it wouldn’t be a bad idea to mow over them if you lawnmower comes equipped with a mulching option.

Aeration

Helping oxygen, water and fertilizer into the soil is important and this is great time to do this.

Mow your Lawn

Keep on mowing, as the season comes to a close, lower your blade but be sure you don’t cut too low.  A lower cut lawn will allow more sunlight on the majority of your grass.

Fertilize

During the winter your roots need to keep nutrients in reserve.  This is a great time to help them out so they remain strong over the cold Milwaukee Winter.
